The property was built in the 1970’s by Roy Howlin and the property was purchased from Roy in October 2019. The building was run as a Youth Hostels Australia (YHA) business during the 80”s and 90’s.
Since 2019 the boys have been renovating the rooms and grounds to create comfortable accommodation alongside one of the best beaches in the world, Penneshaw Beach! Taking inspiration from the Greek Islands and Kangaroo Island’s natural landscapes and beaches, Michael and Yiannis have created a relaxing and beach side motel while keeping the charm of the older style construction of the building.
Yiannis – Moved to Kangaroo Island in 2019 to open Penneshaw Beach Stay leaving behind his succesul Rundle Mall coffee business; “That Coffee Guy”. He is passionate about three things: Coffee, Kangaroo Island and Fishing, his move in 2019 helps him pursue all three daily!
Michael has grown up visiting Kangaroo Island and learnt to swim at Penneshaw Beach as a child. The freedom to explore the natural beauty of the island and the welcoming and friendly communities kept him coming back each and every year. In 2016 he moved over to live and is happy to call Penneshaw home!
